Escola Christã Moçambicana (ECM)

Escola Christã Moçambicana (ECM) is a Portuguese name for Mozambican Christian School. It is an initiative under the umbrella of Building The Heart Ministry. It resulted from God’s calling to Americo and his wife, Candida, to serve in their home country, Mozambique. The lack of buildings, school equipment, books, and sanitation for education is a challenge in Mozambique.

Most Mozambicans rely on public education administrated by the government. There are very few Christian schools in the country, and those few are very expensive to the general population. ECM aims to provide biblically integrated education for Christian and non-Christian families living in low-income communities, to equip them to think and live with a biblical worldview, prepare them academically for a better future, and prepare them for life in society through training in trade.

Our Mission

Our mission as a school is to see lives transformed in Christ for a better community.

Education is critical to a sustainable future and happens within a larger community's context. Our approach extends beyond the school to help ensure students have the necessary support to do their best in their learning.

We believe that children should be prepared for what they will become tomorrow. Children should be equipped and supported to live out their faith in God without compromising. They should be prepared to become men and women who can provide for themselves and their families.

At the heart of our education program, we want to impact Mozambique both in the present and in generations to come by proclaiming the Gospel, forming and equipping Christ’s followers to live out their faith in communion with God and each other. We also want to provide individuals and communities with skills to meet their needs, whether by starting their own businesses or getting better jobs.
